Investigations are ongoing.
One man has died following a collision between a truck and car in County Clare.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on the M18 southbound between J12 and J13, Gort to Ennis Road.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 1.20pm on Tuesday afternoon. The sole occupant of the car, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The male driver of the truck was left uninjured.
The scene is currently being examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local traffic diversions are expected to remain in place until later this evening.
