Man fatally injured as motorcycle collides with car in Donegal

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

A man has died following a road traffic collision which involved a motorcycle and a car in Donegal on Wednesday evening.

Gardaí in Buncrana are investigating the incident, which occurred at Castleforward, on the main Burnfoot to Buncrana Road (R238), at approximately 5.30pm on the afternoon of 4 July.

One man, understood to be in his 50s, was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was driving was involved in a collision with a car.

He was taken from the scene to Altnagelvin Area Hospital in Derry and pronounced dead a short time later.

The male driver of the car was not injured.

The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be carried out. The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda forensic collision investigators and diversions are in place.
