Man in his 80s dies after being hit by a car in Mayo

Tragic news from Mayo.

Gardaí in Claremorris are investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Charlestown, Mayo, which resulted in the death of a man in his late 80s.

The incident occurred on 13 January at approximately 6.45pm on the old N2 road, situated 2km outside Charlestown.

The pedestrian was struck by a car, and subsequently taken to University Hospital Mayo by ambulance. It was confirmed by Gardaí that he had passed away on Monday evening.

The occupants of the car sustained no injuries.

Investigations are ongoing and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Claremorris Garda Station 094 – 9372080 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
