Man in Louth dies after being struck by lorry while attending to a vehicle

Very sad news from Louth.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána has confirmed that a man in his 40s has been pronounced dead after he was struck by a lorry while he was attending to another vehicle.

The incident occurred shortly after midday today (14 March) on the M1 Southbound between Junction 14 (Ardee) and Junction 15 (Castlebellingham) in Louth.

The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, and the driver of the lorry was brought to the hospital as a precaution.

The scene is currently preserved and the services of Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested by Gardaí. The road is currently closed with local diversions in place.

Gardaí in Ardee are now appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward and for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time to make this footage available to them.
