Man rescued from sea off Wicklow coast after falling overboard

Wicklow RNLI and the Coast Guard were involved in the rescue.

A man has been rescued from the sea off the coast of Wicklow after he fell overboard.

The crew member on a container ship fell overboard and spent around an hour in the sea on Sunday before being rescued.

The alarm was raised at around 10pm last night after the man was reported missing and the Wicklow lifeboat was dispatched, as well as Irish Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 116.

The man was located around 11pm by the lifeboat and was winched on board the helicopter.

It’s understood CPR was carried out on the man and he was transferred to Beaumont Hospital.

Currently, his condition is not known.
