This latest attack happened in Fenit, Kerry when a swimmer who was about 70 metres out in the sea was set upon by a seagull.

According to the Sunday World, the seagull swooped down where the man flapped him away only for the seagull to return a second time and this time he drew blood.

Lifeguards on the beach attended to the man and sent him to hospital where he received tetanus shots.

Seagulls of course have been the subject of a lot of news stories in recent months with reports of other attacks and thefts happening.

It’s only a matter of time before man and bird sit down to reconcile our differences. We can live in harmony again.
