Man’s wallet returned 14 years after he lost it… with more money in it

When your luck's in, it's in

When your luck’s in, it’s in.

If you’ve ever been in the unfortunate position of losing your wallet, you’ve probably held out hope for a few days that it might be returned by a Good Samaritan.

After 14 years, however, chances are you’d have long given up hope of ever seeing it again.

Croatian man Ivica Jerkovic had certainly long forgotten about a wallet he lost at a party way back in 2001, despite the fact that the wallet happened to be filled with aproximately €1,000 at the time.

Awkward

A thousand notes in the wallet? Ivica’s obviously not the type of guy who withdraws €20 every time he visits the ATM.

According to the Daily Star, Jerkovic couldn’t believe his luck recently when the wallet was sent to him anonymously in the post and not only was the €1,000 all there, there was approximately €500 extra in there for good measure.

Jerkovic, who is in his 50s, believes that whoever found the money was down on his luck at the time and that because the cash helped dig him out of a hole, that he felt he owed some interest.

“I believe that this money saved him and for years he was calculating how much he should return to me,” Jerkovic said.

“Otherwise, I don’t know why he would keep the wallet for all those years!”

The money that Jerkovic lost at the time was intended to fix the roof of his house and we can only hope that losing it didn’t mean he had to take the drastic measures taken by Ted and Dougal when the Craggy Island raffle went t*ts up.

“First I thought that someone was joking with me so I went to check whether the money was real,” Jerkovic added.

“It was the best greeting for Easter!”

Pints on you on the May Bank Holiday weekend Ivica.
