Many feared dead after plane crash in Cuba

Cuba

Horrific news.

Reports from Cuba suggest that many people have lost their lives after an incident involving a plane at José Martí International Airport.

Cuban media has reported that the plane, which had just over 100 passengers on board, crashed shortly after it took off, landing in a wooded area. There were also nine members of the crew on board.

Reports further suggest that it was a domestic flight, which left the Cuban capital Havana bound for the city of Holguín.

According to the Miami Herald, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has visited the scene of the disaster and said “The news is not very hopeful.”

While the number of casualties has not yet been confirmed, Al Jazeera has reported the Cuban president as having said “It seems that there is a high number of victims.”

It is not yet clear what caused the plane to crash.
