There was a massive difference between Ireland’s lowest and highest temperatures on Thursday

Hottest places Ireland

Now that the World Cup has taken a breather, there’s only one thing for people to talk about. The weather.

We’ve made it to Friday, everyone, and now anyone not unfortunate enough to be working at the weekend can climb into their fridges and wait for the next Beast From The East to arrive.

Should be any day now.

In the meantime, that shiny orb thing in the sky is determined to melt us all. Temperatures across the country are set to hit the high 20s and even head into the 30s, so the savvy among you should head for Donegal.

Malin Head was the coolest place in the country on Thursday at a Baltic 20 degrees, a full 12 degrees behind Shannon Airport, where the hottest day since 1976 was recorded before the weather station burst into flames and burned to the ground.

You can see all of yesterday’s data here.

Meanwhile, Irish Water have issued their guidelines on conserving the water supply as Ireland’s east coast suffers something of a drought.

They include:

  • Have a shower instead of a bath, like anyone takes baths anymore
  • Spend less time in the shower, which you should have instead of a bath, but nobody takes baths anymore anyway
  • Remember to turn off the tap when you’re brushing your teeth
  • For the truly conscientious, consider adding a toilet cistern bag to your cistern to reduce the amount of water used in a flush
  • Make sure your dishwasher and washing machines are fully loaded
  • Use a basin in the sink
  • Keep a jug of water in the fridge
  • Make sure you use the correct pot or pan size if you’re cooking food

There are loads more here that, frankly, it’s far too hot to transcribe. I’m off to buy my own body weight in Calippos and wait for the inevitable apocalypse.

Tell my mother I love her.
