AIB’s latest spending figures found that between game day (Sunday, July 26) and Tuesday, July 28, Mayo's pub spend was 210% higher than the same period last year.

Additionally, restaurant spend was up 58% and spending on fast food rose 43% compared to the same time in 2025.

In Dublin on final day, Kerry supporters outspent Mayo fans by 21%. However, Mayo supporters increased their Dublin spending by 30% compared with the semi-final.

The hurling decider brought another spending boost, with Limerick fans increasing their Dublin spend by 33%, while Galway’s fell 6%.

Cork supporters had also been big spenders, spending 20% more in Dublin on semi-final day than the two eventual finalists combined did on final day.

AIB's figures also highlight the impact of the summer weather on consumer spending, with July’s sunshine helping drive a staycation boost, with spending on accommodation up 9%, dining 8% and pubs 4% year-on-year.

Amusement parks and entertainment also gained, rising 9% and 6% respectively, while cinema spending hit its strongest level of the year, helped by major releases.

Overall consumer spending rose 5% in July, with in-store spending up 5% and online spending down 1%.

Adrian Moynihan from AIB said last month's Spend Trend gives a 'really good picture of how people were spending during a busy summer month'.

“Sport played a big role, from Mayo’s huge football win to Limerick’s hurling success, and we can see that feeding through into local businesses, hospitality and spending in many locations around big match days.”

He further added that the good weather aided the tourism and leisure sectors as more people chose days out and breaks at home.
