It boils down to this: Don’t do anything stupid.

Met Éireann have given a list of times for people across the country to remain indoors as Ex-Hurricane Ophelia makes her way across Ireland on Monday.

From 7am onwards, the storm is expected to track from the coastal parts of Cork and Kerry up through the country, with the authority stating: ‘Violent and destructive gusts are forecast with all areas at risk and in particular the southwest and south in the morning, and eastern counties in the afternoon.

‘Also heavy rain and storm surges along some coasts will result in flooding. There is potential risk to lives.’

Met Éireann then advised people to remain indoors from the following times across the country.

From 07:00: coastal areas of Counties Cork and Kerry

From 09:00: Remaining parts of Munster

From 12:00: South Leinster and Galway

From 13:00 Dublin and remaining Leinster

From 15:00 North Connacht and Ulster
