Met Éireann has issued an ice and low temperature warning for 17 counties

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning for 17 counties in Ireland.

All of the counties in Connacht and Leinster are covered in the warning.

It was issued at 12pm on Friday and is valid from 6pm on Friday until 11am on Saturday morning.

Met Éireann has said temperatures are expected to fall as low as -4 degrees on Friday night.

The coldest temperatures will be around dawn and it will stay below freezing until mid-morning on Saturday.

It will remain cold all day on Saturday with top temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees.

Saturday night will be very cold again with temperatures falling back to -4 degrees in places with some light fog affecting the midlands.

As we head into next week, it looks set to be dry and calm with high pressure raising temperatures to between 7 and 10 degreew on Monday and Tuesday.
