Met Éireann have issued a status yellow weather warning for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. They have warned of periods of heavy rain at times through Christmas Eve and overnight and for a time Christmas morning with local spot flooding. Temperatures will range from 4 to 8 degrees Celsius, with the coldest temperatures occurring in the north and west towards morning. The warning was issued at 10am on Saturday and is valid from 9am on Sunday (Christmas Eve) until 9am on Monday (Christmas Day). Rain will become widespread over Connacht and Ulster tomorrow morning with some heavy falls likely at times, especially in northwestern counties bringing a risk of local spot flooding. Tomorrow will be a transition to a more unsettled period of weather from Christmas Eve onwards with the risk of frost and ice returning, some heavy rain and the threat of wintry precipitation also.
