Rainfall warning

Not ideal for weekend plans.

Depending on your luck, there’s a good chance that you’ve been inadvertently soaked at some point in the last 24 hours.

Unfortunately, the rain is only set to get worse in certain parts of Ireland, according to the latest update from Met Éireann.

The forecaster has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for the four counties spanning the south coast this afternoon: Kerry, Cork, Waterford and Wexford.

In a warning issued on Friday afternoon, Met Éireann forecast “heavy downpours of rain expected with totals 30-40mm with spot flooding likely especially near the coast.”

The warning will come into effect at 2pm tomorrow (28 September) and remain in place until at least 5am on Sunday morning.

Additionally, a small craft warning was issued at 12pm, with winds to reach force 6 on the coasts from Carlingford Lough to Roches Point to Rossan Point.
