Met Éireann issues more weather warnings for this weekend

Met Éireann has issued three more weather warnings which will all come into effect on Sunday (15 October).

Published on Saturday afternoon, the first of the three is a Status Yellow rain and wind warning that applies to the provinces of Connacht and Munster.

It will be valid from 1pm until 10pm on Sunday and states that from Sunday afternoon, a spell of heavy rain will move northwards along with strengthening southeasterly winds.

As such, disruption is expected including spot flooding.

The second alert is a Status Yellow wind warning which applies to Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

Set to be in effect from 10pm on Sunday until midday on Monday, it reads:

“Very windy on Sunday night and Monday morning with further heavy showers.

“Southeasterly winds, veering southwesterly will reach mean speeds of 50 – 65km/h with gusts of 90 – 110km/h, higher near coasts and exposed areas. Disruption is expected.”

The third alert is for Kerry and Limerick and is another Status Yellow wind warning.

It will be valid from 10pm on Sunday until 6am on Monday and states: “Very windy on Sunday night. Southerly winds, veering southwesterly will reach mean speeds of 50 – 65km/h with gusts of 90 – 110km/h, higher near coasts and exposed areas.

“Disruption is expected.”

These three warnings follow the Status Yellow thunderstorm warning already in effect for the provinces of Connacht and Munster, as well as Donegal.

It is set to be valid until 9pm on Saturday.
