Met Éireann have dropped another Status Yellow low temperature/ice warning for eight Irish counties and frost and ice
continues to cause havoc around the country.
The Status Yellow warning is in place for the whole of
Connacht, as well as
Longford,
Offaly and
Westmeath.
The national forecaster has said conditions will be "very cold with frost and ice", adding that the possible impacts include slippery conditions underfoot, hazardous travelling conditions and animal welfare issues.
The warning is in effect from 6pm on Monday, December 4 until 10am on Tuesday, December 5.
Met Éireann issues Status Yellow frost and ice warning
The national forecast looking ahead for the Monday and Tuesday predict a very frosty few days ahead. In their weekly forecast, Met Éireann said that after a cold start, Monday will be mostly dry, with spells of winter sunshine.
However, some scattered showers are possible in the north and west, with highest temperatures from 3C to 7C.
Monday night will remain mostly dry, but there's potential for some wintry showers and some isolated fog or freezing patches.
Lowest temperatures will range from around -3 or -4 degrees in parts of the midlands and west to around 1 or 2 degrees along the east coast. Frost and ice will be fairly widespread.
Tuesday looks to be a continuation of the frosty conditions with a few isolated patches of fog and freezing fog, gradually clearing to spells of sunshine. Highest temperatures of 3C to 7C.
