No end to the cold snap in sight.

Met Éireann have issued what seems like their umpteenth weather warning this week, with the entire country warned to be on alert for ice and snow over the next 24 hours.

Scattered snow showers and accumulations of less than 3cm have been forecast, with the west and north of the country, yet again, expected to be the worst affected.

The warning was issued at 8am on Thursday morning and will come into effect at 9pm on Thursday night for 12 hours until 9am on Friday morning.

With temperatures expected to drop to as low as -2 on Thursday night, there will be frost and icy stretches and hazardous driving conditions as a result, while there are early signs that the wintry spell will last until the middle of next week at least.

Stay safe out there, folks.
