So, summer is over?

Met Éireann have issued a weather warning for eight counties this weekend.

A status yellow wind warning has been issued to Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim.

The warning is valid from Sunday, September 10 at 12pm to Monday September 11 at 9am.

Met Éireann have said that: “a developing low pressure system in the Atlantic will track towards Ireland today bringing a period of strong and gusty winds to all provinces.

“Winds will be strongest in Atlantic coastal counties with westerly winds expected to reach mean speeds of 55 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h. Winds will be strongest in exposed hilly and coastal areas with very high seas expected along the coast during this period.”

Sunday is going to become increasingly windy and patchy rain clearing eastwards into the Irish Sea this morning with sunny spells and showers following on behind.

The showers will become widespread during the afternoon and will merge to longer spells of rain across Connacht and Ulster during the evening, bringing the risk of spot flooding. Southwesterly winds will veer westerly and increase strong to gale force and gusty, with high seas on Atlantic coasts. Top temperatures 14 to 17 degrees.
