The next few days will not be at all pleasant.

Met Éireann have issued two status yellow weather warnings that will affect almost every county in the Republic of Ireland in the coming days.

A status yellow wind warning was issued for Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick at 10am on Monday morning, warning of mean wind speeds of 50 to 65 km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h at times.

The weather warning will come into effect at 9pm on Monday and remain in place until 3am on Wednesday morning, although Met Éireann have warned that further wind warnings are likely for Wednesday night.

A second status yellow snow-ice warning, meanwhile, has been issued for the entire province of Connacht, as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath and Meath.

The snow-ice warning doesn’t come into effect until 6am on Tuesday, but warns of widespread wintry showers that may lead to snow accumulations and will remain in place until 3am on Wednesday morning.

Along with the weather warnings, Met Éireann have forecast hail and thunder showers and low temperatures from “a cold, polar maritime air-mass” that will lead to fairly miserable conditions for most of the week.

Best just to stay indoors and avoid it all if possible in the coming days.
