Lawyers for ex-convict Michaella McCollum have released a statement today confirming that she will be taking legal action against an Irish daily newspaper.
McCollum claims that staff of the newspaper harassed her and intimidated her as she made her way to a taxi on Sunday evening, according to Newstalk. The newspaper was not named in the statement.
The statement further clarified that McCollum, 23, was not paid by RTÉ for the controversial interview that aired on Sunday evening.
According to the statement, "On Sunday night she participated in a broadcast with RTÉ and gave her first interview since release. There was no payment made to her to do so".
The statement also suggested that McCollum would not be taking part in further interviews.
