“You don’t tweet every thought.”

Former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama has delivered a withering assessment of Donald Trump’s preferred method of communication, warning of the dangers of social media.

Although she doesn’t mention him by name, it’s pretty clear who Obama is referring to throughout her speech at the inaugural summit of the Obama Foundation in Chicago.

The audience responds with laughter as she insists, with a smirk, “I’m not talking about anybody in particular.”

Obama added: “You’re the first lady or the president, the commander-in-chief, and you have that voice. You have that power. What comes with that is responsibility to know that every word you utter has consequences.”

Aiming her point squarely at those who tweet first and think later, she stated that it was important not to always “just tell it like it is?”

“No, you don’t,” she countered. “You need to think, and spell it right, and have good grammar.”
