The search for a young boy gone missing near the Cliffs of Moher will resume this afternoon after being paused due to the weather conditions.
Emergency services have been involved in a search operation for the boy since he was reported missing on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 23.
The Coast Guard, Gardaí, Irish Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 115 and the Aran Islands RNLI boat are all involved in the land, air and sea search operation.
It was reported that the boy was separated from his family in the vicinity of the Cliffs of Moher, who subsequently raised the alarm at the nearby visitor centre.
It is understood that the Shannon-based Coast Guard helicopter spotted what was believed to be a body in the water, however conditions meant that the area was inaccessible for a closer search.
An Aran Islands RNLI lifeboat launched their Y-class inflatable boat near the location and, along with the Coast Guard boat crew, carried out a risk assessment.
It was determined that it was still too dangerous to attempt a recovery operation and the search was called off on Wednesday evening.
In a statement to JOE on Thursday morning, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: "Due to adverse weather conditions locally the search operation for a young boy missing from the vicinity of the Cliffs of Moher, Co. Clare will resume this afternoon Thursday 25th July, 2024."
