Five premises located within Moore Street Mall in Dublin city centre were issued closure orders last month by the FSAI (The Food Safety Authority of Ireland).
The closure orders were served by Environmental Health Officers in the HSE under the FSAI Act, 1998.
A closure order is issued if, in the opinion of the authorised officer, there is or there is likely to be a grave and immediate danger to public health at/or in the food premises.
Closure orders can refer to the immediate closure of all or part of the food premises, or all or some of its activities.
The orders may be lifted when a premises has improved to the satisfaction of the authorised officer.
The five food businesses issued closure orders by the FSAI last month were:
Dailo Nepali Kitchen was issued the order because of "evidence of an active cockroach infestation".
The Food Hygiene Inspection Reports for Spicy Bite and Tiramisu Mania also state that there was "an active cockroach infestation" at both premises.
As for Georgian Delight and Kebab House 66, the two food businesses were issued closure orders because of "rodent (mouse) activity".
In the case of Kebab House 66, two dead mice were discovered in the "back kitchen area".
