Motorcycle van crash Limerick man dies

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon.

A man has died following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in Limerick on Saturday, 12 March.

The collision, involving a van and a motorcycle, took place on the N69 Coast Road at Askeaton at approximately 1.30pm.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his late 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick.

The driver of the van, a man aged in his 50s, has been taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.

His injuries have been described as non-life threatening.

At the time of writing on Saturday evening, the road has been closed off to traffic to allow for a technical examination of the scene.

Local diversions have been put in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Any road users who were travelling on the N69 Coast Road on the Kilcornan side of Askeaton at the time of the incident and who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – are asked to make this available to Gardaí.
