Gardaí launch murder investigation following death of man in Cork

One man in his 20s died following an altercation on Thursday.

Gardaí have announced that they have just launched a murder investigation into the death of a male in Mallow, Cork on Thursday 12 July.

The investigation is being conducted on the death of Conor Quinn, a man in his 20s, who died during an altercation on Thursday in the Cork town. The incident allegedly also involved one other man.

It’s understood that Quinn is of Irish descent, but not from Cork.

The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination.

The murder query follows completion of the post-mortem on Friday. The results of which have since been passed to the investigation team and are not being released for operational reasons.

Gardai wish to renew their appeal for witnesses and in particular, anyone who travelled in and around the Mallow Town area between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on Thursday night who have ‘dash cam’ footage from their vehicle to contact either:

  • or any Garda Station.
