Nearly 88% of adults in Ireland are fully vaccinated against Covid

Nearly 88% of adults in Ireland are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, according to new figures from HSE CEO Paul Reid. On Saturday morning, the HSE chief said that "the finishing line of this phase of the vaccination programme is so close now". Also revealing that 92% of adults in Ireland are partially vaccinated against the virus, Reid said the HSE's focus "still remains to give as many as possible protection." His comments come as walk-in Covid-19 vaccination centres continue this weekend for members of the public. These clinics are open to anyone in Ireland aged 12 or over who is not yet vaccinated. On top of this, there are additional dose two clinics available for people awaiting their second dose of the vaccine following the sufficient amount of time passing since their first dose. The Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are available at these walk-in vaccination centres and at the moment, people will be offered a second dose of the same vaccine they previously received. In a statement earlier in the week, Director of the National Vaccination Programme Damien McCallion said: “With schools soon returning after the summer break we are keen to ensure people have the best possible access to vaccination for their children. "Parents and legal guardians are welcome to bring their children aged 12 and over to their local participating walk-in clinic this weekend to ensure they have the best protection possible from the virus."
