One county has been hit with an Orange Warning.

Almost half of the country has been hit with a Status Yellow weather warning heading into Easter weekend.

Met Éireann‘s latest set of weather warnings does not bode well for anyone expecting to enjoy sunshine over the coming long weekend.

Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Louth, Wexford, and Waterford have been hit with a Status Yellow rain warning from 6 am on Friday (April 18) until 6 am on Saturday (April 19).

Met Éireann have warned of “spells of rain, heavy at times” as well as localised flooding.

Similarly, Clare, Galway and Mayo have been hit with the same warning with the end expected around 9 pm on Friday.

Meanwhile, in Munster, Cork and Kerry have been hit with a Yellow rain warning, which started at 11 pm on Thursday night and is set to continue until 9 pm tonight.

The UK Met Office have placed a Yellow rain warning on Antrim and Down.

They have forecasted a “prolonged spell of rain, some of it heavy, will likely cause difficult driving conditions and some disruption to travel.”

The warning is in place from 2 pm on Friday until 3 pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Wicklow has been hit with a Status Orange rain warning beginning at 11 am on Friday until 11 am on Saturday.

Currently, there are no warnings in place for Easter Sunday.

Met Éireann’s forecast says: “There is some uncertainty in the forecast for Easter Sunday, but current indications suggest outbreaks of light rain will clear eastwards in the morning followed by occasional sunny spells and some well scattered showers.

“Cloudy conditions look to build from the west in the afternoon with rain following. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in a light to moderate southerly breeze.”

As for Sunday night, they have forecasted: “Rain will move eastwards across the country on Sunday night, followed by showers and clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees a light southwest wind.”
