New Applegreen in Naas to feature Ireland’s first Popeyes drive-thru

The new €15 million service station is expected to be a handy stop for motorists travelling to major events such as Electric Picnic.

The €15 million development is being built at Junction 9 on the M7, close to the Naas Ball, and is expected to create around 150 jobs.

For fried chicken fans, the biggest attraction will be Popeyes' first drive-thru restaurant on the island of Ireland.

The American fast-food chain has rapidly grown its presence across Ireland, opening restaurants in Belfast, Blanchardstown and Portlaoise.

Its M7 location is likely to prove popular with motorists travelling to events such as Electric Picnic in nearby Stradbally.

The site will also include popular chain Taco Bell, an M&S Food store, a Crafted Kitchen & Deli, as well as Applegreen's usual forecourt and convenience shop.

Additionally, it is set to host eight ultra-fast EV chargers (16 total charging bays), as well as a dedicated heavy goods vehicle fuelling area.

Seamus Stapleton, Managing Director of Applegreen’s Republic of Ireland business, said the company is 'continuing to invest heavily in the Irish market' with 'several additional new sites in the pipeline'.
