New Covid-19 guidance agreed by Government

Here is all the information from the Government’s latest meeting.

A number of new measures with regards to Covid-19 guidance have been agreed by Government, following a lengthy meeting on Tuesday.

An Taoiseach Micheál Martin confirmed the changes on Tuesday, saying: “The evidence is, that a large number of people are acting as if the virus is not a threat to them.”

It was confirmed that all outdoor events will be limited to 15 people, down from 200, under strict new limits on public gatherings agreed this afternoon.

All sporting events will take place behind closed doors, with no fans allowed to spectate. There is to no gatherings before or after the sporting events either.

The Government has advised that all businesses should revert to working from home, when possible, until 13 September at the earliest.

People will also be advised to wear face mask if sharing a vehicle with someone who is not from their household.

Public transport should also be avoided if possible.

Elderly people will be asked to limit their network of contacts for the coming weeks, avoid public transport, and go shopping at designated times.

Gardaí will be given additional powers to enforce these measures.

It was also revealed that there has been an additional 190 cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Ireland on Tuesday.
