Multiple people have been shot at a New York City subway station in Brooklyn as a hunt is reportedly underway for a suspect.
The Associated Press has reported that five people were shot during Tuesday morning (12 April) rush hour, around 8.30am local time (1.30pm Irish time), but authorities have yet to confirm this.
First responders confirmed at least 13 people are injured.

Firefighters responding to reports of smoke at the 36th Street station in the Sunset Park neighbourhood found multiple people shot and undetonated devices, a New York City Fire Department spokesperson confirmed.
Photos from the scene on social media show several bloodied passengers lying on the floor of the station and blood inside carriages.
New York City police said they were responding to reports of people wounded either by gunfire or an explosion.

Trains servicing that station were delayed during the morning commute.
At least four train lines are also said to be delayed in both directions and officials have warned residents to avoid the area and expect delays.
AP said, citing multiple law enforcement sources, that preliminary information indicated a suspect was wearing a construction vest and a gas mask.
The suspected gunman remains on the loose.
