It’s going to be the type of week where you make yourself a cup of tea just to hold it.

This weekend, Ireland faced a nationwide wind warning, following several nights last week that saw temperatures drop below zero.

According to the latest forecast by Met Éireann, next week is set to be even colder again, and we can even expect snow on a couple of days.

The cold snap is set to start as early as Monday, when lowest temperatures will be around -1 to +2 degrees with widespread frost.

The wintry precipitation will get even worse after that, with Met Éireann projecting: “Tuesday will be very cold with outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow which will later clear to scattered wintry showers.” Tuesday night will be bitterly cold with lows of -3 degrees, and widespread hard frost setting in.

Wednesday night is set to be colder again with lowest temperatures falling to -1 to -5 degrees with a severe frost. That’s MINUS. FIVE.

While Thursday night can’t be accounted for yet, Met Éireann have said that sleet and snow are likely to fall once more.
