Nine injured in Enniskerry after GAA players fall from top of vehicle
The team had won the Junior B championship earlier that day.
Up to nine players from the Enniskerry GAA Junior B team have been injured during a homecoming celebration of their cup final win on Saturday. None of the injuries are thought to be life-threatening, according to Gardaí.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, though many from the community have asked for the video not to be shared.
The footage appears to show several revellers atop a stationary vehicle. However, when the vehicle begins to roll, some of the players lose their footing and fall over the back railing.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána told JOE: "It’s understood up to nine people were injured and removed from the scene by ambulance to Tallaght and St. Vincent's Hospitals for treatment. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening." The Gardaí also confirmed that the men fell from the trailer of an articulated lorry at around 6.30pm this evening.
Earlier today, Enniskerry had claimed their first ever Junior B title in the Philip Doyle JBFC Final, having beaten Avoca with a score of 2-10 to 10 points.
The town's heroes had brought the trophy into Enniskerry village that evening to celebrate.
