Man arrested in connection with 1981 murder of Nora Sheehan

The man has appeared in court.

A man has been arrested in relation to the murder of Nora Sheehan that took place in Cork 41 years ago.

Sheehan, who was 54 years old at the time of her death, was found in Innishannon on 12 June, 1981 – almost one week after she disappeared.

The mother-of-three was last seen alive on 6 June, 1981, outside the South Infirmary Hospital in Cork city centre.

The man arrested on Tuesday (28 June, 2022) is aged in his early 70s. He appeared before Skibbereen District Court at midday, charged in connection with the murder.

Investigations are ongoing.
