Six-year-old boy from Northern Ireland dies while on holiday in Spain

Tragic news.

A six-year-old boy from Northern Ireland has died while on holiday in Spain with his family.

The family had been holidaying in the town of Sa Coma on the island of Majorca at the time that the incident occurred.

It is understood that the child died following an incident at a swimming pool on Thursday, 2 June.

The boy was rushed to the Son Espases Hospital in a critical condition following treatment at the pool by emergency services, where, according to local reports, he later passed away on Sunday afternoon.

RTÉ News notes that the British Foreign Office is currently providing assistance to the family.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time”, a spokesperson said.
