His family announced his death on Thursday.
Former NFL star OJ Simpson has died, aged 76 after a battle with cancer.
The one-time NFL running-back was most infamously known for standing trial for the double-murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, in the ’90s, only to be acquitted.
The ordeal was coined the ‘Trial of the Century’ and the low-speed car chase across Los Angeles that led to his arrest is considered one of the most dramatic, shared experiences in live television history.
His family stated in a social media post that he was joined by his children and grandchildren at the time of his death.
The controversial sportsman was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year, and had been spending the last few months in hospice care.
