The man accused of the attempted murder of three children and causing serious harm to one adult in the Parnell Square attack of 23 November 2023 has reportedly pleaded not guilty.
According to multiple reports, he has also pleaded not guilty to three counts of assault causing harm to two other young children and a passerby, and one count of the production of a knife.
Yesterday (Monday, 8 June), a jury was sworn in for the trial of Riad Bouchaker (52) at the Central Criminal Court.
As reported in several outlets, the judge told potential jurors that Mr Bouchaker suffered an acquired brain injury.
The judge, however, stressed that there is "no suggestion Mr Bouchaker was suffering from a mental disorder at the time of the incident such that it raises any of the special defences that arise".
The trial is scheduled to begin on Wednesday (10 June). It may last up to five weeks.
