Paul Gascoigne has been charged with sexual assault following an incident on a train in the UK over the summer.
The footballer was charged with sexually assaulting a woman on a train travelling between York and Durham on 20 August.
The 51-year-old was subsequently arrested at Durham train station.
A spokeswoman for British Transport Police told the BBC that Gascoigne has been officially charged with one count of sexual assault by touching.
The former England and Tottenham Hotspur player will now appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on 11 December.
