Young female pedestrian seriously injured following road traffic collision in Waterford

The driver of the van was unharmed.

A young female pedestrian has been seriously injured following a road traffic collision on Thursday (7 April).

The collision, involving the pedestrian and a van, happened at approximately 4.30pm on the R671 at Ballymacarbry in Waterford.

The pedestrian was later taken to CHI at Temple Street in Dublin where she is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries.

The driver of the van was unharmed.

The road will remain closed overnight, and a forensic collision examination is due to take place on Friday morning (8 April).

Local diversions are currently in place.

Gardaí are currently appealing to any person who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who were travelling on the R671 between 4.25pm and 4.40pm and who has camera (including dash cam) footage is being asked to make this available to Gardaí.
