Pedigree dog beef recalled in Ireland due to risk of illness to dogs

Consumers who have purchased affected products have been asked to cease feeding it to their pets immediately.

A limited number of Pedigree products have been recalled in Ireland due to the potential risk of illness caused to dogs by Vitamin D levels.

Mars Petcare announced a proactive recall of a limited number of Pedigree Complete Small Dog Beef 1.4kg products on Tuesday (22 December), which the company said do not meet its quality and safety standards.

Specifically, the company said consumption of the affected products may make a dog unwell due to the levels of Vitamin D.

Consumers who have purchased affected products have been asked to immediately cease feeding it to their pet and to contact the Mars Petcare consumer care team for more information.

Pet owners who have questions about the recall should call 1890 812 315 or visit www.uk.pedigree.com.

The Lot Code and Best Before Date for the affected products are listed below. Lot codes of Pedigree Complete Small Dog Beef 1.4kg with the production codes are included in the recall.

Each product will have a lot code printed on the bag that begins with 046D9 and a best before date of 12 November 2021 (12/11/2021).

Mars Petcare says it is working with all its distributors and retailers to ensure that the recalled products are no longer sold and are removed from inventory.

Mars Petcare said it takes its responsibility to pets and their owners very seriously and said it would like to sincerely apologise for any concern caused.
