Attendees were evacuated from the Barcelona event after the stage burst into flames last night.

The crowds gathered in Barcelona for Tomorrowland Unite to watch the live stream from the Belgium festival before the stage caught fire.

Festival goers took to Twitter to share footage of the flames as they left the event.

The team behind the event now says the blaze was a result of a technical malfunction.

“The fire brigade’s initial hypothesis is that there was an overheating of the material used in the construction of the stage during the presentation of a pyrotechnic spectacle,” the Globo website reported.

Authorities alongside event staff managed to evacuate all 22,000 attendees and so far, there are no reports of any serious injuries.
