Pet Rescue reminds owners to keep pets inside as “Beast From The East” claims first victim

Just because it’s a shelter, doesn’t mean they’re safe.

Pet owners have been warned to bring their pets inside as the “Beast From The East” arrives in Ireland.

This comes after Cara Rescue Dogs, in Laois announced that the freezing temperatures resulted in the death of one dog, which had been left outside its owner’s backdoor overnight.

According to the group, the dog’s only shelter was “a small wooden dog box”, which they described as insufficient.

“Unfortunately these small dog box’s [sic] are only good to shelter from rain or wind (if even),” they wrote.

“The unfortunate owner is not a bad person. [They] simply thought it was ok. They had planned on bringing the dog in when the snow arrived. But sadly the freezing temperature last night claimed the dog’s life.”

Cara Rescue Dogs was set up in 2011.
