Pfizer will also be covering the cost of the vaccinations.

Relatives of Pfizer Ireland employees will be offered the pharma giant’s Covid-19 vaccine over the coming months.

Pfizer Ireland has confirmed the move, stating that it will be done in line with the prioritisation groupings of Ireland’s national vaccination programme.

The pharma company’s rollout will start with immediate family and household members of Pfizer employees over the age of 60 from mid-next month onward.

This is before progressing to include other age categories at a later stage.

Pfizer has confirmed that all the costs associated with vaccinating their employees’ families will be covered by the company.

It also said the vaccinations will be run independently by Pfizer and that the vaccine doses used in this rollout are separate from the supply provided to the Government.

Pfizer employs approximately 4,000 people in five sites in Ireland.

Nearly 936,000 Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in Ireland as of 20 April.

Meanwhile, it was announced on Thursday that people aged between 60 and 64 in the general public will be able to register to receive a Covid-19 vaccine from tomorrow (23 April).

The HSE’s online registration system for the vaccinations of people in this age bracket will open on Friday morning.

Similarly to when the portal was opened for those aged between 65 and 69 last week, Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said the HSE is asking people aged 64 to register first on Friday for their vaccine.

People aged 63 to 60 can then apply in the following days.
