Grief at its best

Cashing in on a tragedy.

For those who have been irreverently affected by the killing of Cecil the lion now, there are a number of ways to commemorate his life thanks to fast acting businesses who quickly turned the tragedy into a money making scheme.

First up is Cecil the Beanie Baby where 100% of profits go to the Wild Life Conservation Research Unit (WILDCRU)

To date the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit have raised over half a million pounds in contributions that have been donated since the tragic killing of Cecil the lion.

Another way to remember Cecil is to get a engraved HTC smartphone cover commemorating “Cecil and his Kingdom.”

The cover doesn’t come cheap and just 10% of profits are donated to the Friends at Hwange charity. The cover costs £159. A bit steep if you ask us.

According to the BBC, a pub in Norwich is also remembering Cecil with a drink called ‘Cecils Revenge’ and needless to say there is no mention of contributing any of the profits from this drink to any sort of wildlife charity, or any charity for that matter.

T-shirts are also for sale saying “RIP Cecil” or “Justice for Cecil” but there is no mention of any charitable contribution from these either.

In the meantime ‘lion killer’ Walter Palmer is in hiding and people have vandalised his garage and pigs feet have been thrown at his house.

A trial is on going in Zimbabwe for the professional hunter who was paid to lead the hunt that led to the killing of Cecil the lion and the Zimbabwe Environment Minister Oppah Muchinguri has called for Dr Walter Palmer to be extradited to face charges
