PIC: The Daily Mail take sexism to a new level with Tuesday morning’s headline

Tony Cuddihy

Stop the world. Just stop it now.

This is the headline The Daily Mail uses on Tuesday morning, reducing the two most powerful people in Britain to, well, we really don’t know what you can call this…

‘Never mind Brexit, who won Legs-it!’ screams the headline, which is so idiotic they decided to use an exclamation instead of a question mark and that’s before you even get into the sexism of it.

‘It wasn’t quite stilettos at dawn, but there was a distinctly frosty atmosphere when Theresa May met Nicola Sturgeon yesterday,’ reads the caption below the headline.

(Stilettos at dawn. Ha. Brilliant. Because they’re two women, you see, who clearly happened into their positions as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and First Minister of Scotland by some strange quirk of nature and, oh deary me, look at them trying to talk about serious things like serious men. Look at them there, wearing their shoes, having legs. The brazen hussies.)

It’s depressing stuff, and it’s made worse by the fact that this complete joke of a front page will sell in its thousands upon thousands and anyone who speaks out against it will be patronised and told that they’re just giving the Mail the publicity they crave.

This, of course, is bullshit because crap like this needs to be called out and confronted until hopefully, some time, no ink is wasted and we’re not all being treated like walking erections.

Anyway, this is how you stand up to it.
