PIC: Gardaí arrest motorist for driving 116 km/h over the speed limit on the N7

Conor Heneghan

Crazy speed.

Having sought to clamp down on dangerous driving on National Slow Down Day last month and over the Bank Holiday weekend, the Gardaí are continuing to do so on roads throughout Ireland this week.

On Wednesday morning, they posted on Twitter about arresting the driver of an Audi who was doing 216 km/h on the N7, just the 116km/h over the speed limit.

The driver was arrested for dangerous driving and the car was seized for having no insurance.

As of 2 November, 161 people have died on Irish roads in 2016.

Slow down, folks.
