An Garda Síochána has been cracking down on offences like speeding by increasing the presence of speed vans and speed cameras on the side of the road since the turn of the year.

A tweet on the official Twitter page for An Garda Síochána confirmed that a fixed charge notice was issued to the driver. Citizens have a maximum of 56 days within which to pay this fine.

The description of the offence read: “Longford Roads Policing Unit detected an motorist travelling at 108kph in a 60 kph zone at Derrahaun, Co Longford.”
