PIC: MD of major Irish brewing company slates Fine Gael TD over pre-election claims he created jobs in the company

Conor Heneghan

Strong words.

Niall Phelan, MD of Rye River Brewing Company, has blasted a Fine Gael TD in Kildare for claiming that he created jobs in the company on a campaign leaflet issued in Kilcock in the run-up to the General Election.

Anthony Lawlor, a Fine Gael TD for Kildare North with a constituency office in Naas, recently issued a leaflet outlining what he has delivered to Kilcock, including a new Primary Care centre, a new school and 150 jobs for the River Rye Brewing Company.

It was the last claim which alerted the attention of Niall Phelan, who claims that he has spoken to Lawlor twice in his entire life and said that Lawlor’s claims that he created 150 jobs in Rye River, manufacturers of a number of beers including McGargles, Grafters and Solas, were “a disgrace”.

In a post on his Facebook page, which Phelan also directly addressed to JOE, Phelan also pointed out that Lawlor’s lack of acknowledgement of Rye River’s move from Kilcock to Celbridge suggested an ignorance on his part.

Firstly let me say I have no allegiance to any political party, but do support hard working politicians and I do believe…
