PIC: These are the new rules for the pub if, or when, the Gardaí go on strike

Tony Cuddihy

Four days of Garda strikes are planned for November.

We’ll start this article by saying that we hope the various parties manage to get their shit together in time to avoid industrial action by the country’s law enforcement officers next month.

After all, we don’t need this kind of thing.

That being said, with the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors and the Garda Representative Association having planned four days of strikes for November – while sergeants and inspectors will not log in to the PULSE IT system between 7am and 7pm this Friday – this enterprising pub in Mullingar is planning ahead.

Ross Brunton is the manager at Columbia Bar in Mullingar, and let’s just say he’s expecting to flout some of the laws of the land while the men in blue are off the clock.

He’s offering cheaper pints for the Gardaí themselves, and there’s good news for the smokers among you.

Pint, anyone?
