What an incredible gesture.
In September 1982, 31-year old Aer Rianta worker Declan Flynn was beaten to death by five men in Fairview in Dublin.
His murder came about as a result of a series of beatings meted out to gay men in Dublin who used Fairview Park as a meeting place at the time.
Flynn's murder was seen as a catalyst for the rise of the Gay Pride movement in Ireland and today, 33 years on from his death, plenty of people saw fit to remember Flynn on what looks set to be a landmark day for gay people in this country.
