PIC: Plaque unveiled in memory of Berkeley victims in Dublin’s US Embassy

Carl Kinsella

Today is the anniversary of the tragic balcony collapse that claimed the lives of six students in Berkeley, California during a J1 holiday.

A plaque was unveiled in memory of Nick Schuster, Eoin Culligan, Lorcán Miller, Ashley Donohue, Olivia Burke and Eimear Walsh in the garden of Dublin’s US Embassy this morning.

The tribute was unveiled by Kevin O’Malley, the US ambassador to Ireland, and accompanied by the planting of an apple tree.

A James Joyce fittingly adorns the plaque, reading “They lived and laughed and loved and left.”
